Friends,

We have learned that Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has issued a shelter in place order for the City of Atlanta. Only essential employees will be permitted on campus. Your supervisor will inform you as to whether or not your position is designated essential.

Please see the press release published by the Mayor's Office that provides guidance on what activity is allowable during this two-week period.

The campus is still supporting about 100 students and the staff necessary for their support. A full complement of Public Safety officers will remain on campus as well.

As we have gone through this challenge, I recently read a poem that stays with me and I share it with you now:

*And when your body has become still,
reach out with your heart.
Know that we are connected
in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
(You could hardly deny it now.)
Know that our lives
are in one another's hands.
(Surely, that has come clear.)
Do not reach out your hands.
Reach out your heart.
Reach out your words.
Reach out all the tendrils
of compassion that move, invisibly,
where we cannot touch.
*An excerpt from Pandemic by Lynn Ungar
Take care,
