Friends,

As we return to campus from spring break, we return with heavy hearts for the unimaginable losses two of our students have had to face. Lauryn Keahey, C'2021, and Sharadiant Turner, C'2022, have both tragically lost family members. We grieve with them and send our prayers, love and open arms to embrace them in their time of pain.

I write now to let you know that Darryl Holloman, Ph.D., vice president of Student Affairs, and Dean Fran’Cee Brown-McClure, dean of Students, have been in touch with both students and, through their offices, we are managing the help that has been offered to both.

Many of you have asked in what ways you can offer assistance for our students during this difficult time. For help in organizing financial support or sending cards or notes, you may reach out to Daphne Faison, executive assistant in Dr. Holloman’s office in 210 Manley College Center, DFaison@spelman.edu. She will ensure that any notes or cards are mailed to Lauryn and Sharadiant.

With Sorrow,

    Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D.
